Ask Cañon is independent accountability coverage of Cañon City and Fremont County government.

What we cover

The Cañon City Council and its meetings, the office of the mayor, city administration, and the Fremont County Board of County Commissioners, including planning and zoning matters.

Our standards

We cite primary sources: meeting minutes, agendas and packets, recordings, the city charter and municipal code, county resolutions, and records requested under the Colorado Open Records Act. The Colorado Open Meetings Law (the Sunshine Law) is the yardstick for how public business should be done. Every item lists its sources at the bottom. If we get something wrong, we correct it on the item and say what changed.
